Four days after starting the season with a demoralizing defeat to the 49ers, Clay Matthews and the Green Bay Packers looked very good, maybe even better, at least on defense. Especially Matthews, who was credited with 3½ of the Packers' seven sacks of Cutler. With six sacks in the Packers' first two games, Matthews already has equaled his total from last season. It was a huge factor in the 4 INTS that Cutler threw. Tramon Williams had two, Charles Woodson had one and added to his HOF status, and Rookie McMillian got the the other pick.
The Packers (1-1) pulled off a perfectly executed trick play, then rattled and robbed Jay Cutler the rest of the way in a 23-10 victory over the division rival Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field on Thursday night. The Packers lined up for a field goal, on 4th and 27, but punter Tim Masthay, the holder, flipped the ball to backup tight end Tom Crabtree, who streaked into the end zone for a touchdown and did a well deserved Lambeau Leap!
"Inside the facility, there wasn't any panic," Aaron Rodgers said. "Outside, I think people were worried if we lose to Chicago, you're kind of putting yourself behind the eight ball a little bit. Good win for us. We're 1-1. Again, it's one game. We need to get better on offense; defense played incredible."
Yes but so did Randall Cobb, Cedric Benson, Jordy Nelson, and good old Donald Driver! Finley and his fumble and not catching the ball, is tough to watch. Driver waiting all this time to do his little cha-cha dance was well worth the wait. Benson running for 81 yards on 20 carries was solid and he will need to keep that up.
I love the Bears still suck chant that was super loud on our theater surround sound! Well I am not going to worry so much anymore, the team knows this is the way they have to play the whole season, no more let downs, just take care of business.
Well, so it is another prime time event next Monday night at Seattle. Should be a good game, and one that we should put another win in the column.
