Our Green Bay Packers are working on a perfect season. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (22 of 32, 307 yards, two TDs, no interceptions) tied Steve Young with his 11th game of the season with a passer rating of at least 110 (120.2). Rodgers' efficiency was perhaps best illustrated on a 65-yard TD pass to James Jones, running a deep crossing route, that occurred one play after Robert Francois leaped to pick off a Stafford throw over the middle all this while taking advantage of Ndamukong Suh's ejection and beating the Detroit Lions 27-15 Thursday.
The defending champion Packers are 11-0 for the first time in franchise history and have won a team-record 17 straight, including the playoffs. Green Bay easily passed what was expected to be one of its toughest tests toward joining the 2007 New England Patriots as the NFL's only teams to have 16-0 regular seasons.
Suh was tossed for pounding Evan Dietrich-Smith's helmet multiple times into the turf and then stomping on his arm in the third quarter! Anger Management classes coming and well as a much deserved suspension for a horrible act that many families witnessed over a wonderful Thanksgiving meal.
Matthew Stafford threw three interceptions. And the Packers turned Stafford's interceptions into two TDs and a field goal, going ahead 24-0 late in the third. Detroit finally scored when Keiland Williams ran for a 16-yard TD with 13:11 left and added a 2-point conversion pass from Stafford to Titus Young. It also scored a meaningless TD on Stafford's 3-yard pass to Calvin Johnson with 11 seconds left.
On the penalties Packers cornerback Charles Woodson, whose third-quarter interception set up a field goal, said that theme could apply on any given week. "It's a physical game," he said. "You're always in contact with somebody else. Sometimes you get hit and you don't like it. You've got to try to keep your composure and not get up swinging. Today there were a couple of guys ejected. They'll have to learn from it."
The Packers must get by this game, and all the crap that happened. It was a victory and on that the Packers need to build on to beat the NY Giants on Sunday afternoon.
And on another sad note: Packers linebacker Erik Walden was arrested for suspicion of assaulting his his live-in girlfriend on Friday. Tempers people, tempers!
